Morning Star's scientific name is Tawera spissa and it is most commonly found in the sheltered bays of South Island, New Zealand. Its preferred habitat is fine to coarse sand and light gravel substrates just below the low tide mark down to 200m in depth.
External frame 23cmsquare
Internal frame 19 cm square
Plastercast approximately 12 cm square
Please be aware, because each tile is handmade, there will be slight variations in shape and thickness across a tile, occasional tiny air bubbles showing through, and the edges and corners may not be completely square. The frames and back board may show minor brush or grain marks and there may be occasional knots in the wood. None of these are imperfections but a function of this unique hand crafting process.
